Unification Thought, Ontology, and
a Reflection on the Concept of the Invisible God.
1. Citation from Unification Thought.
In other words, ontology, which deals with the attributes of all things, can be regarded as a theory that makes visible confirmation of the invisible attributes of God.”
(Unification Thought, Ontology, p.168)
2. Principle of Creation Reflection.
In Genesis, God Himself testifies to His own form, image, and likeness:
• Genesis 1:26: “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness…”
• Genesis 1:27: “So God created humankind in His own image; male and female He created them.”
This testimony affirms that God possesses His own spiritual substantial essence (본체).
However, due to the fall of humankind,
the spiritual sensory faculties became disabled.
As a result, humanity temporarily lost the ability to perceive the spiritual substantial essence of God.
From this impaired standpoint, God has been described as “invisible.”
Yet this description does not reflect God’s true essence.
It arises only from the fallen condition of humanity’s broken perception.
When the providence of restoration is completed and the human spiritual senses are fully restored,
humanity will once again perceive God’s substantial essence directly.
At that time,
the explanation of God as “invisible” will no longer be necessary,
for God Himself has already testified to His own image and form.
3. Conclusion.
The concept of the “invisible God,”
as explained in the cited passage,
reflects the limited viewpoint of fallen humanity
whose spiritual faculties are disabled.
It does not align with the testimony of Scripture,
where God Himself declares His own image and form.
When restoration is complete and
humanity’s spiritual senses function normally,
the day will come when the substantial essence of God is clearly recognized,
just as God Himself testified in Genesis.
We await that day with hope and prayer.
Thank you, again!
