< A Critical Reflection on Conceptual Confusion in Unification Thought :
The Original Image, Heart, and Prime Force >
Preface
This essay offers a clarified framework for understanding the divine creative process as presented in Unification Thought’s Original Image Theory (原相論). It seeks to resolve conceptual confusion surrounding the roles of Heart (심정) and Prime Force (원력), and to share this refined vision with awakened minds across the world. The terminology and metaphysical structure of Unification Thought are respectfully preserved throughout.
Part I: Citation from Unification Thought
“This Prime Force is, in fact, a newly formed entity generated through the give-and-take action within the Original Image—specifically between the Sung Sang (Internal Character) and Hyung Sang (External Form). More precisely, it arises from the interaction between the impulsive power of Heart within Sung Sang and the Pre-Energy within Hyung Sang.
When this Prime Force acts upon all things, it manifests as the Universal Prime Force, initiating mutual interactions among all beings. Thus, the Universal Prime Force is an extension of God’s own Prime Force.”
(Unification Thought, p.64)
Part II: Theological Interpretation of the Creative Process
1. Divine Attributes within the Original Image
God’s Original Image (原相) comprises two fundamental embodiments:
• Divine Spirit (神性): Love, Heart, Creativity (activated Logos)
• Divine Truth (神相):
• Original Internal Nature: Emotion, Intellect, Will; Concepts, Principles, Laws
• Original External Form: Shape, Configuration, Material Substrate, Pre-Energy.
2. Stage One: Generation of Logos
The give-and-take action between the attributes of Original Internal Nature—centered on the purpose of creation—produces the preliminary Logos (理法, 構想).
When infused with Divine Spirit, this Logos becomes activated and life-bearing, possessing Creativity and vitality.
3. Stage Two: Generation of Prime Force
The give-and-take action between the attributes of Original External Form—centered on the purpose of creation—produces Prime Force (原力), which includes:
• Forming Energy (particles)
• Acting Energy (wave dynamics)
• Universal Prime Force (horizontal interaction among all beings).
4. Stage Three: Creation of Physical Organisms
The activated Logos and Prime Force interact—centered on the purpose of creation—to generate the external physical, chemical, and organic structures of all created beings.
“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness…’”
(Genesis 1:26)
5. Stage Four: Infusion of Spirit into Creation
After the physical organisms are formed,
the Divine Spirit—Love, Heart, and Creativity—interacts with them to produce spiritual-physical beings.
This culminates in the moment when:
Thus, the full manifestation of created beings—including human beings—
comes into being as spiritual and physical entities.
Part III: Conclusion
Based on this clarified framework, the original citation from Unification Thought reveals a mixture of overlapping, conflicting, and conceptually leaping explanations.
This reflection offers a more coherent and structured understanding of the divine creative process, grounded in the principles of Original Image Theory.
