“The First Cry of That Day”
A perimeter of armed forces.
A military police unit in pursuit.
And one deserter standing in silence.
I stood up.
And I spoke:
“Private Gim!
That voice shouting through the megaphone is a lie!”
My words defied command.
They disrupted the operation.
They risked violating military law.
But
I spoke
to comfort him.
To stand in his place.
To protect his humanity.
In that moment,
within the rigid structure of the military,
I raised a voice
for one man’s life.
That word was not mere information.
It was a cry that shook the system.
The first flame that broke the silence.
