“The Colonel’s Silence”
He was executing an operation.
At the edge of the DMZ,
he surrounded an armed deserter
and prepared to arrest him in the name of order.
He sought recognition.
His valor would be recorded.
His loyalty praised.
His rank elevated.
But then,
a junior officer spoke:
“He surrendered. Please, do not bind him.”
That word shook the structure.
It shattered his expectations.
He replied:
“I got it.”
A voice of frustration.
A tone of disappointment.
The sound of his valor dissolving.
He fell silent.
And that silence
was both an order
and a wound.
