< A Reflection on Unification Thought, Ontology, and
Conceptual Misinterpretations of Give and Take Action. >
Introduction
This essay examines several passages from Unification Thought and evaluates their conceptual consistency with the Principle of Creation.
By analyzing the cited sections, the discussion clarifies where the explanations of “existence,” “dual characteristics,” and Give and Take Action diverge from the structural logic of the Principle.
The aim is to restore conceptual coherence by re‑establishing the proper architecture of these ideas.
1. Citations from Unification Thought.
a.
“Therefore, the concept of an ‘aspect of existence’ does not apply within the Original Image.
However, the prototype corresponding to the aspects of existence in the created world does exist within the Original Image.”
(Unification Thought, p. 203–204)
b.
“In the created world, when two elements or two beings in a subject–object relationship engage in Give and Take Action centering on a purpose, a united body is formed, and simultaneously motion begins.”
(Unification Thought, p. 204)
c.
Figure 2‑6. Circular Motion Produced by Give and Take Action
• Center: Purpose
• Result: Union (United Body)
(Unification Thought, p. 204)
2. Interpreting the Citations Through the Principle of Creation.
a. On “Aspects of Existence” in the Original Image
The Theory of the Original Image describes the attributes, character, and structure of God.
Thus, the “aspects of existence” discussed there necessarily refer to God’s own modes of being.
For this reason, the statement:
conflicts with the internal logic of Unification Thought.
This is why the text immediately adds:
The addition attempts to resolve the contradiction, but the conceptual tension remains.
b. On the Center of Give and Take Action
The cited text states:
However, according to the Principle of Creation, the four‑position foundation yields different results depending on its center:
• Centered on Heart (心情) → static Give and Take Action
→ produces union-body, harmony-body, neutral-body, unified-body
• Centered on Purpose (目的) → developmental Give and Take Action
→ produces new-being, developing-being, independent-being, multiplying-being
Therefore, the explanation that purpose-centered Give and Take Action produces a united body contradicts the Principle’s structural logic.
The center and the result do not correspond.
c. On Figure 2‑6 and Circular Motion
The diagram states:
• Center: Purpose
• Result: Union (United Body)
Yet, by the Principle of Creation:
• Purpose-centered Give and Take Action should produce a new being, not a union-body.
• Union-body formation requires a center of Heart, not Purpose.
Thus, the diagram’s conceptual architecture is inconsistent with the Principle.
3. Conclusion.
Through multiple angles of analysis, the cited explanations from Unification Thought show conceptual inconsistencies when compared with the Principle of Creation.
The mismatches appear in:
• the definition of “aspects of existence,”
• the logic of Give and Take Action, and
• the relationship between center and result in the formation of beings.
This reflection underscores the need for clearer conceptual architecture to maintain coherence within the system of thought.
