Peace Message III
A Study on the Misunderstanding of “Conscience” in the Word
1. Citation from the Peace Message.
“Therefore, if you simply obey the command of your conscience, the eternal teacher,
your eternal life will be absolutely guaranteed.
This is how God created the universe.”
— Peace Message, p. 54, upper section, lines 1–3
2. A Principle-Based Interpretation of the Above Passage.
The concept of conscience and the origin of its emergence can be explained
through the principles of creation as follows.
* A Principle-Based Examination of the Generation of “Conscience”
A. The Emergence of the Mind of Original Nature (本性).
The mind of Original Divine Internal Nature arises when:
• The sungsang of the spirit self (the spirit mind and spirit body)
and
• The sungsang of the physical self (the physical mind and physical body)
engage in a developing give-and-take action,
centered on the purpose of embodying God’s Heart.
The resulting independent, newly generated entity is the mind of Original Nature (本性).
B. The Emergence of the Good Conscience (良心).
The good conscience arises when:
• The spirit mind and spirit body
and
• The physical mind and physical body
engage in a developing give-and-take action,
centered on the values of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
The resulting independent, newly generated entity is the conscience (良心).
C. The Emergence of Organizational Conscience.
When the purpose is centered on organizational authority and interests,
the same give-and-take action between the spiritual and physical components produces:
An independent, newly generated entity that functions as the “conscience” of the organization—
the conscience that protects organizational privilege, secrecy, and self-interest
(whether in political parties, criminal groups, bureaucratic power structures, etc.).
D. The Emergence of Back-Alley Gang Conscience.
When the purpose is centered on intimidating the weak and extorting small sums of money,
the give-and-take action between the spiritual and physical components produces:
An independent, newly generated entity that becomes the “conscience” of back‑alley gangs,
a distorted conscience emphasizing gang loyalty and street‑level codes of “honor.”
3. Conclusion.
The term “conscience” in the cited passage refers specifically to the conscience
that is aligned with the mind of Original Nature.
However, the mind of Original Nature can emerge only when:
• One centers one’s inner life on receiving and embodying God’s Heart, and
• The spirit mind and physical mind form a proper four‑position give‑and‑take structure.
Because this requires the separation from Satan—
the consequence of the human fall—
and the path of indemnity and restoration,
only those who faithfully walk the providential course and
are permitted to participate in the First Resurrection
can enter the realm where the conscience aligned with Original Nature is realized.
Such individuals alone can:
• Enter the world of the conscience united with Original Nature,
• Receive the guarantee of eternal life,
and this is precisely what
the cited passage means when it states that
God created the universe in such a way.
